Apprentice Probationary Review Form - VIC

'Probation' is a period of time at the commencement of employment during which the employee is assessed as to whether they have the necessary skills, ability, and aptitude required to perform their job and their suitability to the role.

Employers should review their apprentice progress to ensure their suitability to the role, provide training and support if they are not meeting the expectations of the role.  This template is a structured document to assist when monitoring and assessing a new employee’s suitability and capability of the role.

The probationary period also allows the apprentice sufficient time to get to learn the job and find out if the job meets their expectations.

Most states have a 3 month probationary period for the training agreement, however you are able to extend this to up to 6 months in most states.

** Please note that Victoria and ACT are exempt from extending the apprentices initial probationary period.
